Join the new Speer Y team as we open our brand new facility in December, 2023.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Youth and Family Program Director and
Lead Staff Member, the Kids Zone Attendant provides care for children while their
parents participate in YMCA program activities. The Kids Zone Attendant is
expected to demonstrate a professional manner at all times when in the facility,
including personal time spent in the facility.

Essential Functions

  • Warmly and enthusiastically greets members with a smile and eye contact.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with parents and the children entrusted to
    YMCA care.
  • Requires all parents to sign in and sign out their child(ren).
  • Keeps all work areas clean and organized.
  • Maintains the equipment and games in the Kids Zone with emphasis on cleanliness,
    sanitation, safety and age appropriateness.
  • Returns all equipment to its proper storage place after use.
  • Cleans and dusts the climbing equipment on a weekly schedule.
  • Conveys a positive attitude when interacting with members or in the presence of
    members.
  • Works as a team member, assisting fellow staff when necessary.
  • Provides members with opportunities that will increase their involvement, sense of
    belonging and sense of ownership of the YMCA.
  • Builds relationships with all YMCA constituents by being responsible, honest, caring
    and respectful.
  • Understand and promote all YMCA programs values.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, or in process. Prefer HS degree.
  • 6 months to 1 year experience working with infants, toddlers and youth preferred.
  • Must have an understanding of activities that will entertain children of different
    development levels in a caring atmosphere.
  • Position requires the ability and desire to work with the diverse needs of all
    participants.
  • Must possess a professional image and ability to provide positive feedback and
    encouragement.
  • Must set an excellent example of member service.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days.

Hourly range $12-12.25, commensurate with experience. Flexible hours and shifts available to include mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family. Pre-employment drug screen and clear background check required.
